“Liha Pres” was established in Lviv in May 1996 by a group of young lecturers from Lviv Polytechnic State University who felt the need to create a new publisher of West format which would actively cooperate both with European and Ukrainian higher education institutions.
From the moment of the establishment of the publishing house and until 2018, it was headed by Dmytro Suhak, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Senior Researcher Scientist, who is the author of more than 100 highly cited publications in the journals included in “SCOPUS”.
In 1998, Stanislav Dykyi, a member of staff of Lviv Polytechnic State University by that time, was appointed as a director and then, also as chief editor. Due to his activity and creativity, “Liha-Pres” has been providing an academic community of Europe and Ukraine with high-quality scientific books for over 20 years.
Serhii Oseredko, a co-founder of “Liha-Pres”, was producing art photography for scientific books till 2018. Since 1998, the publisher has been actively cooperating with a designer Yurii Ohanesian, who has taken part in the creation of best designs for scientific books and manufacture of graphic products. Oksana Mazur has been working as a visual artist since 1999, and she still maintains creative relationships with the publishing house.

SENSE unites environmental research institutes of more than ten Dutch Universities and research organisations. The inclusion of “Liha-Pres” in the rating of book publishers acknowledged its contribution to the development of the European scientific book market and highlighted its international status about which the founders dreamed in the economically difficult 1996.
In 2019, a logo of “Liha-Pres” was renewed; it represents a significant historical path, which is highly appreciated by the acting executive board. The date “1996” is a year of establishment of the publishing house, and small figures “1256” and “1233” are the years of foundation of Lviv and Toruń where the headquarters are functioning now. In 2019, the official web-site of the publishing house was also updated.
